Norwegian vessels delivered 2.1 million tonnes of fish, crustaceans and molluscs in 2012, down 7 per cent compared with 2011. The landed value amounted to NOK 14.1 billion, down 12 per cent from 2011.
Norway has never exported more salmon than in 2011. Altogether 840,000 tons were sold on the world markets last year, and the demand is growing, NRK reports.
Norway exported seafood worth 4 billion dollars in August, an increase of 13 percent compared to the same month last year. Salmon and herring are at the very top of the list.
In the period from 19 December to 25 December, the export price of fresh salmon dropped by 5.6 per cent from the previous seven-day period, Statistics Norway (SSB) reports.
